Spring is here and Paris is showing off (as it should)! The weather is warm and everyone is hanging out at the parks, enjoying the sunshine and blue skies. It feels like we went from really cold temperatures to very warm over night and I’m loving it.
Paris is full of inspiration- the architecture, fashion, and design is the best in the world imo. You can spend a lifetime here wondering around all historic landmarks and new places always popping up, like the new YSL bookstore and the countless galleries.
Yesterday, my 4-year-old took photos of me as she LOVES to use the camera. She effortlessly captured this picture of me in a very springtime look- Sézane top (they don’t sell this color way anymore but there are a bunch of other great options), Citizens of Humanity jeans, and Sézane loafers…
What’s more inspiring than a vintage Ferrari? Not much. I have a thing for old Ferrari and Porsche although I have zero interest in owning one. I just like awing at their beauty and heritage. Plus, a vintage Ferrari is forever nostalgic of Ferris Bueller.
The flower shops right now are unbelievable with so many beautiful floral and plant options. Look at those cherry blossoms!!
This year, I’m trying to cook new things and I’m loving all the healthy-ish recipes I find on Instagram. I have a bunch of cookbooks but I prefer finding new recipes on social media like these chocolate chip cookies from @emilydidonato. It’s 1 cup of almond butter (I used a combo of almond and peanut butter), 1/3 cup of maple syrup, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, and 1 chocolate bar chopped (you can use chocolate chips if you prefer). Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350. Voila and enjoy!
If you love matcha, stop by Little Miss Geisha next time you’re in Paris (make a reso online)! It’s the cutest cafe next to Jardin du Luxembourg and the perfect afternoon to get a matcha and moshi, then walk around the iconic gardens.
More signs of spring- the warm, soft light shining through our windows. A peek into my office and you’ll notice a ring light, a necessity for Virtual Design Consultations in the winter and all year round really. Since it’s staying lighter later, the time difference between the U.S. and Paris is easier, but the ring light always makes my complexion better. If you’re on video calls a lot, it’s a must! Here’s the exact one I have and it’s on sale on Amazon for $71!
Some other places for design inspiration right now- the Enfant Riches Déprimes in the Marais (don’t skip the stunning bookstore next door) and the YSL Bookstore.
Thank you for reading this week’s Postcards from Paris! They are time consuming to write and I hope you enjoy them! I get a lot of compliments about the Postcards and that’s what keeps me going. I’ve been really busy with work on American and French projects, so I usually write to you on Saturday and Sunday mornings before the day gets going!
Bisous,
Allison
P.S. Do you like the format of this Postcard? Casual and hopefully inspiring with some insights to Paris. If you like it, please let me know in the comments. If you don’t, also please let me know in the comments. lol. xx
Right now, I’m working on projects virtually in Dallas, Austin, NYC, and LA and full service projects in France. If you’re interested in design help, please reach out and I’d love to help you!
If you want to shop the Paris Flea Market with me, let’s go! Also, my Austin home is an Airbnb when I’m not there. Here’s more info about HOTELette Austin.
And I want to add that I appreciate the time you spend writing 💖
Hi, Allison. Always looking forward to reading your posts since subscribing a few months ago. I love all things design related so your Substack is right up my alley! BTW , the ring light you linked takes me to Citizens of Humanity☺️
Have a great week ahead!
